Onion Lake RCMP arrest man after gun complaint

A man has been arrested after a scary incident in Onion Lake.

Late in the night of Wednesday, August 2 the RCMP received a report of shots being fired near the Onion Lake bus stop. Officers from the Lloydminster, Turtleford, St. Walburg, and Maidstone detachments assisted the Onion Lake detachment in responding to the call.

The RCMP investigated, and found that a man they believed was responsible for the shots was holed up in someone else’s home with a gun.

A few hours later, he was seen walking down Chief Taylor Road, and was arrested after a brief chase.

44-year-old Todd William Rousseau of Delmas has been charged with three counts of reckless shooting with intent to endanger life, 2 counts of uttering threats, 1 count of pointing a firearm, 1 count of carrying a gun for a dangerous purpose, 1 count of possessing a gun without a license, and 1 count of intoxication on a dry reserve. He will appear in court on Monday, August 31.

Nobody in the community was injured in the incident.
