North Battleford receives government funding for policing

The City of North Battleford has received $770,000 for policing.

The money is being given through the Municipal Police Grants to pay for 7 new RCMP officers in the community, fulfilling a government promise to fund 120 new police officers in communities province-wide.

“The continued support of the Municipal Police Grants enables us to ensure our community’s safety,” North Battleford Mayor Ian Hamilton said.  “We are grateful to the province for their continued support of policing in North Battleford.”

The government says the funding will allow North Battleford RCMP to be more visibile in the city, and to target organized crime.
