Lloydminster’s Parade of Lights deemed a success

Lloydminster’s Parade of Lights has been deemed a success.

The parade took place in the evening of Monday, December 21, with over 40 vehicles decked out in Christmas lights driving down Highway 17 to crowds of onlookers.

Co-organizer Ryan Leblanc says he’s happy with how the event went.

“Amazing. There’s no other way to put it. I was in complete awe,” Leblanc said. “A lot more than I anticipated, that’s for sure. The amount of work that people did to decorate their vehicles last night was just unbelievable to see… I’ve gotten I don’t know how many messages to my phone [and] on social media. The feedback has been really good.”

The parade was followed by a social at the Exh Grounds, where donations to the Salvation Army Food Bank and Edmonton’s Stollery were collected. Leblanc says that while the final total has not yet been tallied, he estimates that they raised over $1300 in cash between the two organizations.

Leblanc also says that the event went so well, he plans to bring it back next year.
