City receives grant funds for ball park

The City of Lloydminster has gotten some cash to spruce up Legion Ball Park.

According to a news release issued by the municipal government, the City has received a $10,000 grant from the Saskatchewan Community Initiatives Fund for improvements to washroom facilities at Legion Ball Park.

The park is located in the east end of the facility, with six ball diamonds which are highly used by city residents. The park is equipped with a washroom and umpire change facility, which began to be renovated in the fall of 2015. The work was completed this spring.

“The washroom facilities at the Legion Ball Park are approximately 30 years old and were in need of

“The money received through the Community Initiatives Fund has helped the City of Lloydminster ensure our beloved Legion Ball Park remains a comfortable and attractive recreational space for the enjoyment of local user groups and visitors to our City.”

According to the press release, the park sees thousands of users throughout the season, from both Lloydminster and the surrounding area.
