Elk Point RCMP arrest man on numerous outstanding charges

Elk Point RCMP have apprehend a man on several outstanding charges, related to weapons offences and alleged assaults.

On Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Police received a report that the suspect had been seen at a residence on the Fishing Lake Metis Settlement.

Once it was confirmed that the person reported was, indeed, the man police were seeking, and that he was inside a residence with several other individuals, police responded, and the scene was contained with assistance of members from the St. Paul RCMP Detachment and the RCMP’s Police Dog Services. The RCMP’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) also helped in this matter.

Police maintained continuous contact with all persons inside the residence during the situation. A search warrant was executed at the residence and the man was taken into custody without incident. No one was injured and no one else was charged. The man was transported to the Elk Point Detachment and remanded into custody.

19-year-old, Monte Lajimodiere, from Fishing Lake, was wanted by police for 22 outstanding charges. Some of the charges for which Lajimodiere was arrested include: Assault with weapon of a police officer engaged in execution of his duties; Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose; Flight from police; and Dangerous Operation of a motor vehicle. He is scheduled to appear in St. Paul Provincial Court via CCTV on Thursday, September 1, 2016.

The RCMP will not provide any additional information or details in relation to this investigation as this matter is now before the courts.
