City Approves Expenses for Water Main Upsizing

City Council has voted to approve a $157, 941.00 expense for water main upsizing and tee connection to the Alberta Central East Water Corporation (ACE).

Earlier this year Council approved the ACE Water Supply Agreement to supply potable water to eight different communities:

  • Village of Dewberry
  • Village of Kitscoty
  • Village of Marwayne
  • Village of Paradise Valley
  • Hamlet of Derwent
  • Hamlet of Clandonald
  • Hamlet of Islay
  • Hamlet of Blackfoot

When this first came up, a water main size of 350 mm was discussed but City Administration asked to look at the cost of expanding the size to 400 mm to help support future developments. As well, they asked for the cost of adding a connection tee at 75 avenue, with the main being so close to the airport.

This cost was not budgeted for, however the City believes that surplus from other projects will cover the cost.

This development will eventually allow for a water main to extend to the airport.
