Vegreville-Wainwright Conservative MP Leon Benoit says Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau is deliberately misleading Canadians over Common Sense Firearms legislation. In question period, Trudeau said that the bill would allow Canadians to carry restricted weapons without being locked in safe storage. Benoit claims that the Trudeau knows that is not the case. Benoit says the bill will make gun safety training mandatory for first-time license applicants, streamline the licensing system, and strengthen laws prohibiting gun ownership by those convicted of domestic violence. Prime Minister Stephen Harper has also accused Trudeau or distorting the facts of the bill, but the Liberal leader maintains that the legislation will put Canadians at risk.
