Busy Weekend Ahead for Lakeland Athletics

Lakeland Athletics is gearing up for another busy season.

This weekend the regular season gets underway for men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball.

Following strong seasons by the Rustlers last year, the Marketing and Promotions Coordinator with Lakeland Athletics Chris King says, “the last few years our athletics program has gotten stronger and stronger. All of the teams should be very high caliber this year. We’re hoping all of our teams make playoffs and make a push for ACAC medals this year.”

Friday night, the Rustlers will be doing a “green out,” the first 200 people to come watch will get a ‘We Are Rustlers’ t-shirt.

“We have so many great community people that come out and watch our games, high school students and even kids in elementary. This product is the highest level of athletics you’re going to get in this area. Anyone who comes out is usually blown away by the caliber of play. I’d encourage everyone to come out and take a look this weekend and see what Rustler Athletics has in store,” says King.

The volleyball home openers are on Friday, with the men’s team playing at 6:00 p.m. and the women’s team coming up right after. On Saturday, there is basketball home openers, with the women playing at 6:00 p.m. and the men taking the court right after. The soccer season is also winding down with only three games left. The women’s team plays at noon, followed by the men’s team at 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
