Primary Water Supply To Be Fully Operational in Kitscoty Soon Following Disruptions Due To Wind

The Village of Kitscoty will soon have their primary water supply back up and running following a disruption last night that compromised the water supply for about an hour.

“Due to the high winds yesterday evening, a power pole adjacent to our water treatment plant and reservoir was blown over and broken. That took out the transformers and our power supply to the plant. As well, it disrupted our back up power supply from a generator in an adjacent facility, so that was compromised as well. Therefore our distribution pumps were not able to pump water throughout the village,” says Sharon Williams, The Chief Administrative Officer of the Village of Kitscoty.

After Atco Electric reconnected the back up power, water supply was re-established in the village.

“The Atco Electric repairs have been completed and they’re just in the process of re-introducing the primary water supply to the reservoir now,” says Williams.

The CAO adds that if they run into any issues they may have to go back to the back up power supply but they’re anticipating everything will go smoothly.

Updates will be posted to the Kitscoty social media pages and their website.
