Council Adopts 2017-2021 Strategic Plan

There is a strategic plan now in place for 2017-2021 in Lloydminster.

City Council adopted the plan Monday. The plan includes eight key priorities City Council has identified. These are engaging with staff and residents; creating and maintaining a full suite of governance priorities; creating a strong fiscal policy related to reserves; creating, updating and budgeting for a priority-ranked set of capital projects; creating, modifying or rescinding human resources polices as required; providing guidance for economic development within the city; determining a funding model for upgrades to the wastewater treatment plant; and determining the most appropriate model for management and sale of city-owned land.

During the meeting, Councillor Michael Diachuk expressed that he wished the values listed in the plan were described more thoroughly with how the City will adhere to them. The values include accountability, dedication, respect, transparency and diversity. However, Council voted unanimously at the end of the meeting to approve the draft as is.

The plan states that it will be reviewed and updated on a regular basis to meet the current and future needs of the city.
