Culture House receives $4000 donation from 100 Men of Lloydminster

Culture House has received the final 100 Men of Lloyd donation for the year, which they are hoping will help them meet the needs of the homeless in Lloydminster.

The Culture House is a drop in centre which helps provide homeless people with a way to be out of the cold during the day, while local homeless shelters are closed. It also provides lunchtime meals, job readiness and life skill training.

“Our goal is to empower these people to be a productive part of their community. We’ve already seen in a month someone get into an apartment. They’re not quite in yet but they said ‘when we get in we’re gonna cook meals for the homeless and bring it over.” So they’ve become empowered them to give back to their community.” says Culture House Director Jeff Wilson.

Wilson says the money will help get them up and running further, as they are only open on the weekends now.

“This is going to allow us to open up hopefully one or two more days, be able to hire a part time staff and be able to meet more needs.”

Right now Culture House is looking for 31 people or local businesses to become $200 a month sponsors, which Wilson says will help the centre open every day.
