Servus Sports Centre hosting 8-Week Fitness Challenge

The Servus Sports Centre is trying to hold Lloydminster residents to their New Year’s work-out resolution with a fitness challenge.

The competition will last for eight weeks and will include a custom fitness program, wellness education workshops, and prizes will be awarded to those who make the most progress following the challenge. Measurements will also be taken at the beginning and end of the program so people can see their progress.

SSC Fitness Specialist Jackie Graff says the program will provide many helpful tips to beginners.

“Our goal is to get people interested, active and comfortable being in the gym. We’ll go over how to work equipment, gym etiquette rules that you should know before getting started in the gym. Just a program to get you started on your way.”

The cost to enter is $150, which covers the 2-month membership and exercise program to follow. The program meets on Mondays, and Graff says the meets will feature other fitness specialists to help residents.

“Every second Monday we’ll have a local fitness professional from within the community. We have a registered dietitian coming in, we have a life coach coming in to give us some life skills. So there’s lots of different ways that you can take your fitness to the next level.”

The registration deadline is January 10th. Challengers also need to visit the SSC to have their baseline measurements done by an staff member before the January 15th start. Registrations can be made on the city of Lloydminster’s website , by phone or in person at the SSC.
