Lloydminster housing starts up slightly from 2016

Construction of new homes in Lloydminster is up from 2016, according to the final quarterly report from the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation. There were 76 housing starts in 2017, up slightly from the year before.

On the Saskatchewan side of the city, work got started on 30 single family homes and eight multi-family units, bringing the total to 38. The year before, there were 19 single family starts and four multiple for a total of 23.

On the Alberta side, numbers dropped. There were 45 new single-detached homes started, which fell slightly to 38 in in 2017. No data on multiple family starts was included.

The total number of housing starts in Alberta was 425 in the 4th quarter of 2017, up from 387 the year before. Overall 2017 saw a year-over-year drop 1,770 to 1,596.
