Loon Lake RCMP lay weapon, drug charges in vehicle stop

Loon Lake RCMP have arrested a man after a traffic stop found drugs and a weapon.

Around 4 P.M Tuesday police pulled over the suspect on Highway 669 just west of Loon Lake. The driver was found to not have a valid drivers license, and police detected an odor of cannabis. A search was conducted in the vehicle, where 44 packages of cannibis and a large machete was found.

Police have charged 25 year old Kirk Crookedneck of Ministikwan Lake Cree Nation with possession of drugs with intent to traffic, possession of a dangerous weapon and obstruction. He will appear in Loon Lake Provincial Court on March 22, 2018.

A 21 year old woman was also charged with driving without a valid license.
