A heavy snowfall warning is in effect for Lloydminster, Wainwright, Provost and Vermilion.
Environment Canada expects there to be 10 to 20 cm of snowfall across Northern Alberta this evening and is expected to last until Friday morning.
They are warning drivers to check road conditions before travelling and if possible stay off the roads completely.
