New Saskatchewan premier chosen

The race to fill the Premier position in Saskatchewan is over.

Scott Moe, the MLA for Rosthern-Shellbrook was selected as the new leader after five rounds of voting. He received 8,075 votes, which was over 50 per cent of the overall votes at the leadership convention in Saskatoon.

In his victory speech, Moe said he will continue many of Brad Wall’s policies, including fighting a provincial carbon tax. Moe also says he will balance the provincial budget by 2019 and bring back PST exemption for health, life and crop insurances.

The next Saskatchewan provincial election will be in 2020.
