Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe announces $7.5 million in funding for schools

Premier Scott Moe is providing additional funding for Saskatchewan classrooms.

The $7.5 million mid-school year funding will allow school divisions in Saskatchewan to hire more education professionals, including teachers.

President of the Saskatchewan School Boards Association Dr. Shawn Davidson says he hopes that this announcement will provide restored and renewed investment in the school division operating budgets.

The additional money will increase the total funding to $30 million set aside in the 2018-2019 provincial budget for education. The province is hoping this increase will give them the opportunity to hire 400 in-school employees.

Premier Moe says that he has been hearing from parents over the last several months that more funding is needed to provide high quality education to children in the province.

The funding will be distributed through the Ministry of Education as soon as possible.
