Lloydminster showing support for kindness campaign

Lloydminster District & Co-op is bringing back the Kindness Wins campaign to advocate for compassion and acceptance.

The campaign is modeled after Pink Shirt Day that encourages people to wear pink to stand up to bullying in schools and workplaces. CEO of Lloyd Co-op Don Stephenson says that they re-branded the anti-bullying campaign to focus on a positive and inclusive message.

“Kindness Wins is not about wearing a pink shirt on a particular day. It’s about acts of kindness, love and respect we can share all year long.”

This is the eighth year of the campaign and so far it has raised $20,000 through selling merchandise in Co-op stores. The money raised has gone to various organization in Lloydminster including Beyond Borders Circle of Change, Lloydminster Community Youth Centre and Big Brother and Big Sisters of Lloydminster.

There will be various events taking place Wednesday Feb. 28 including Pink Shirt Day and the Lloydminster Bobcats “Pink to the Rink” home game against Sherwood Park.
