Lloydminster SPCA putting on a Cat Brewery

The Lloydminster and District SPCA is hosting their first ever Cat Brewery to get some available cats adopted.

The event will showcase the SPCA’s adoptable cats and craft beer in hopes of getting the furry pets a new home. Executive Director of the SPCA Jon Punshon says that the event was modeled after the popular cat cafe’s in bigger cities.

“There’s Montreal, Edmonton, Vancouver to name a few cities actually have cafe’s that are not only coffee shops, but also house cats. Either working with the local rescue or they are a rescue themselves and the cats pretty much are around the cafe the whole time.”

The SPCA is partnering with the 4th Meridian Brewing Company to put on the event where 8 to 10 cats will be ready to mingle. Punshon says that it’s an opportunity for the cats to be in a different environment where they can interact with their potential new adopted family.

“So any of the cats that are in attendance so it’ll be SPCA cats and they are all available for adoption. So if people are interested in adopting them then we can certainly do the adoption their or they can certainly come in and adopt them the next day.”

The event is taking place Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m. at the 4th Meridian Brewing Company.
