Saskatchewan Hospital New Beginnings Campaign at 75 per cent of its goal

The Saskatchewan Hospital in North Battleford has reached 75 per cent of its $8 million funding goal through various provincial and local donations.

The hospital’s New Beginnings Campaign is responsible for raising funds to buy all the medical equipment and furnishings that will go into the new facility. Fundraising Lead Corinne Bernier Delainey says that their campaign is less about equipment, chairs and beds and more about people.

“Our goal is to create a home like atmosphere, where people can come and get healthy. The average age of our patients is 34 and the average length of stay is 18 months.”

The campaign has been receive some large donations over the last month, including $100,000 from Conexus Credit Union, $100,000 from Innovation Credit Union and $1 million from philanthropists Irene and Leslie Dubé. Delainey says that because this is a provincial hospital the campaign has been provincial by nature.
