Stephen Harper coming to Lloydminster to discuss global trade

The Lloydminster Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the 22nd Prime Minister of Canada Stephen Harper to discuss growing global trade relations.

Executive Director of the Lloydminster Chamber of Commerce Serena Sjodin says that they wanted to give their members a greater understanding on how trade will impact the economy moving forward.

“We wanted to provide our members with an educational opportunity relative to the Chamber’s mission of supporting the business community. So there’s strong connections with the business and economic side of the Chamber and his presentation on growing global trade.”

In Lloydminster, oil and agriculture are the base of the economy and Sjodin says that trade also plays a major role in the City’s future.

“Right now there’s a lot of uncertainty in the trading world, especially with NAFTA being renegotiated right now. So his experience and his insight can shed better light for us onto the nature and the future of global trading relationships.”

The event will be taking place June 14 at the Lloydminster Exhibition Grounds and tickets for the general public will be available May 1.
