Lloydminster Bandits to host spring camp

The Lloydminster Bandits will be holding a spring camp this weekend. The camp will be broken down into four groups consisting of mostly local players, as well as a few graduating players from Saskatchewan.

Head Coach and General Manager Ryan Early says that this camp is more for conditioning and getting to meet players.

“It gives us an opportunity to look at some of the kids that we’ve kind of been following throughout the winter that weren’t of age yet or were still playing midget hockey. This year, from this step we’ll offer invites to our main camp in the fall from this camp.”

The Bandits finished last season with a playoff spot, but weren’t able to get passed the first round. Early says that they will be looking for size and skill in their players for next seasons roster.

“We lost three forwards and a defenseman. So probably one of the bigger holes will be size like Matt Nielsen was one of our graduating players and he was tremendous with our offense last year, just his size alone he can control the puck. Definitely that’s gonna be one area that we’re looking to improve on.”

The camp will be held at the Servus Sports Centre from Friday to Sunday and players can still register online.
