Highway construction is set to begin on major roadways across Saskatchewan, including two sets of passing lanes on Highway 4 between North Battleford and Cochin.

The Government of Saskatchewan has a Highways and Infrastructure budget of $924.5 million for 2018, and that money is already being put to use as construction season gets underway.

“Our government is making a major commitment to improving safety on some of our busiest highways,” says Highways and Infrastructure Minister David Marit.

Highways 6 and 39 will also see there passing lanes worked on this year, as they are major roads for truckers.

Saskatchewan has invested about $118 million for repaving and preventative maintenance as well, which includes repaving Highway 4 north of North Battleford and Highway 26 between Vawn and Mervin.

Drivers can expect road work in every region of the province throughout the construction season. For more information on road restrictions visit the Highway Hotline.
