Lloydminster under heat warning

An extremely hot week has prompted Environment Canada to issue a heat warning for Lloydminster and surrounding area.

Temperatures of 29 and higher are expected in the area and are expected to linger into Thursday night. People in the area are urged to drink lots of non-caffeinated/non-alcoholic fluids, take lots of breaks indoors and to not leave people or pets unattended in a car for any amount of time.

Residents and visitors are also urged to keep an eye out for signs of heat stroke. Symptoms include a lack of sweat, dizziness, fainting, confusion and loss of consciousness. Children, the elderly and  people with pre-existing medical conditions.

Tempurtures are expected to cool off by Friday, but a full list of areas affected by the heat wave can be found on Environment Canada’s website.
