Lloydminster Pride will wrap up Pride week with their first ever public event

The month of June signifies unity countrywide as everyone celebrates Pride.

The LGBTQ+ Society of Lloydminster has events all month long including Pride Week which kicks off June 25th to 30th. To put a cap on the celebration during the month, the Society is putting together their first ever public event “Pride in the Park” on June 30th at Weaver Park.

LGBTQ+ Society of Lloydminster Founder Tiffani Wiesner says Pride in the Park is a public event with a wide variety of activities available for people of all ages to have fun and come together as a community.

“We’re going to have a barbeque, well supplies last, we’re going to have a few activities we will have a bouncy house and  sumo suits, there is going to be face painting, glitter tattoos , there is going to be flag painting, a bubble party, jewellery making and we’re going to even have a photo booth.”

The event is free, any donations will go back into the LGBTQ+ Society of Lloydminster for future events.

Wiesner says these events are important in raising awareness in Lloydminster and surrounding areas.

“To share our sense of community. A lot of people who are unaware or unsure of who we are and what we represent can sometimes be afraid or throw negativity our way and we really just want to show we’re here and are apart of the community, just like everybody else and we just want to have a good time.”

For more information on the event, you can go to LGBTQ+Lloyd on Facebook.
