Local EMS Supervisor rewarded with Star of Life award

Lloydminster first responder Kote Beriault is recognized for is dedication with the Star of Life award.

The Star of Life is to recognize outstanding achievement, dedication and leadership in EMS and can also be rewarded for bravery, heroism and above and beyond the call of duty. Operations manager for WPD ambulance Denise Blain says Beriault has shown his determination and hard work through ten years of service that included full-time schooling, working full time and raising a family.

“He had just had his ten-year celebration so he started out as a Primary Care Paramedic when we were our old company, he worked his way up to a supervisor position and then he continued on to enhance his education and become an Advance Care Paramedic.”

Blain had nominated Beriault for the award and the winners were picked by the Saskatchewan Emergency Medical Services Association. Beriault was honoured last week in an award ceremony held by SEMSA in Regina. Kote Beriault says that he doesn’t strive for recognition but is still honoured to receive the award.

“Im not one to do stuff like that or do it for notoriety but it is a pretty cool feeling to be recognized for doing a good job.”
