Unemployment rates slightly increase for Lloydminster and area

According to the latest Statistics Canada report, unemployment rates have seen a slight increase for the region that houses Lloydminster. In June, unemployment for the Camrose-Drumheller area rose from 4 per cent in May to 4.4 per cent. Compared to a year ago the unemployment has decreased by 3.3 per cent in the region.

After little change in unemployment for the past two months, June saw the biggest employment increase in Saskatchewan since 2012 with 8,300 new jobs. The unemployment rate fell by 0.5 per cent to 6.3 per cent in the province. In Alberta, unemployment held steady at a rate of 6.5 per cent in June up from 6.2 per cent in May.

In Canada, employment rose by 32,000 jobs, however, the unemployment rate did increase by 0.2 per cent because of more people searching for work.
