Lloydminster Twins head to provincials

Five of the Lloydminster Twins programs have a chance to bring home provincial banners, one of the provincial tournaments will be hosted in Lloydminster.

Three mosquito and two bantam teams for the Lloydminster twins will be competing this weekend in provincials.

Mosquito Divison:

  • AA Tier 1 (Hosted in Lloydminster)
  • AA Tier 5(Hosted in Wayburn)
  • AA Tier 6(Hosted in Eston)

Batam Division:

  • AA Tier 1 (Hosted in Unity)
  • AA Tier 5 (Hosted in Saskatoon)

The Twins Mosquito AA’s will be hosting this weekend at the Lloydminster Legion Ball Park. Mosquito Director for Lloydminster Minor Ball Association Jamie Walker says that there will a lot of local support for the kids.

“The nice thing about Lloyd minor ball in comparison to maybe some other sports, it’s all local kids so everybody knows somebody who knows somebody. As long as they know they’re playing and it’s nice out lots of people come out to the ballpark and watch.”

Walker says even though the season is short, Canadian baseball is an awesome environment for the kids.

” I think its important to them because of the team atmosphere. Baseballs a short season its a very enjoyable season in Canada because you’re always outside and you always have a very good mood around the ball park.”

The Mosquito AA’s will not only host but will also compete for a championship this weekend. Walker adds that no matter what they place, they will feel a sense of accomplishment.

Opening Ceremony’s for provincials in Lloydminster will be held at 6 pm tomorrow at the Legion Ball Park, a local celebrity will also be throwing the first pitch. The first game will be at 3:45 pm against Prince Albert.
