Kitscoty girl looking to hit runways in New York Fashion Week

A local Kitscoty girl is fundraising her way to New York Fashion Week.

16-year old Kasda Allen has been modelling for about two years and has what she calls an opportunity of a lifetime to walk on the runways of fashion week in September. After an appearance at Fashion Fest in Edmonton, the teenager was approached by two designers to walk in their shows in New York.

“I never thought when I first started modelling that something this big would happen to me so it was very overwhelming in that sense,” says Kasda.

The teen and her mom Nikki Allen have been fundraising since mid-July in order to cover expenses to get to New York. Allen says they are asking for sponsors, bottle and can donations, as well as selling pies.

“We’re looking at raising around $5,000 to cover all of Kasda’s expenses because the fashion shows are on two separate Saturday’s.”

Depending on how much they raise, Kasda will be able to walk in one or both shows. So far the pair has raised just over $1,500.

“It’s been a huge rollercoaster. A lot of emotions up and down, but it’s something that she is determined and she’s got a passion about. I will support her 110 per cent and so whatever I can as a parent to support her,” says Allen.

Kasda says her goal is to continue modelling and one day be the face of a makeup of clothing line. To support Kasda people can go to her Facebook page.
