While the water coming out of tap may be cloudy, the city says it doesn’t pose a risk to drink it.
The off-colour, earthy taste and smell is caused by natural chemicals during a fluctuation in river water organics. The Geosmin and Methyl-Isoborneol in the water have not made the water unsafe, according to the City Water Department.
Lloydminster’s Water Services is frequently testing the water and is working towards fixing the taste and smell as soon as possible
Anyone with questions is asked to contact the City Water Department.
