The unemployment rate for the region that houses Lloydminster sees little change, despite a decline in jobs across Canada. According to the latest Statistics Canada report, August saw a 4.4 unemployment rate compared to July’s 4.5 per cent. Last year, in August the unemployment rate was almost double at 8 per cent for the region.

In Saskatchewan, the rate increased slightly to 6.7 per cent, meanwhile, Alberta remained unchanged at a rate of 6.7 per cent. Stats Canada says unemployment did increase in Alberta but had no effect on the rate.

Across the country, employment fell by 52,000 jobs in August with mainly part-time jobs taking a tumble.
