Blackfoot Fire Department receives 100 Men Lloydminster donation

The Blackfoot Fire Department has received funds from 100 Men Lloydminster to go towards a new vehicle. The 100 Men club consistsĀ of community members who donate to non-profit organizations in and around the city. For their third donation of 2018, they choose the fire department earlier in the week.

The fire department presented at aĀ meeting Tuesday to secure some funding for a quick response vehicle that would allow their crew to get to an emergency more efficiently. A truck has alreadyĀ been bought by the fire department for that purpose, but additional funds are needed to outfit the truck and buy more equipment.

100 Men co-founder Shane Schneider says $4,000 was collected from the donation evening. The next couple of weeks will be focused on collecting donations from members who could not attend the meeting.

The department in Blackfoot is located just east of Lloydminster and is comprised of 18 volunteers who cover 900 square kilometres in the County of Vermilion River. So far this year, the fire crew has responded to 27 fire calls, 15 accidents and four medical emergencies.
