HR in a Box sharing expertise with local businesses

Human resource professionals from across the province are spreading their knowledge to local businesses in Lloydminster.

The Talent Pool is a non-profit that created HR in a Box to help small businesses and non-profits thrive in today’s market. Board member Chris Thomas says the sessions are for businesses who don’t have any internal HR representatives.

“It’s a program funded by the Government of Alberta. It’s to help those type of businesses who need that type of support. We have a couple speakers coming up on Wednesday to present in Lloydminster for the Lloydminster and area businesses.”

The Talent Pool is bringing the event to the Lloydminster Chamber of Commerce on September 26th. Speakers will be sharing HR-related information such as strategy development, talent recruitment, management, and succession planning. Participants will also receive hands-on learning from real case studies to further understand HR situations. Thomas believes that businesses can feel empowered having more information

“It’s for that small business owner, that owner/operator, that person that bought into a franchise that doesn’t have HR support. It’s for them to really have that set of information.”

The is the first time HR in a Box has come to Lloydminster, Talent pool has been running the program across Alberta since 2015. The event will happen in a series of 4 days, the first being on September 26th and the next on October 24th.

The first session will have speakers Ada Tai and Jeff Griffiths talking about “Introduction to Effective Recruitment/ Onboarding”, “Six Ways to Foster a Climate of Belonging/ Inclusion at Work” and“Competencies & Critical Skills”
