Police arrest driver of stolen Lloydminster van on Highway 16

A Nova Scotia man was arrested near Lanigan after nearly hitting police at a check stop.

On September 28th, a 28-year-old man jumped the curb avoiding a check stop on Highway 16. Officers recorded the licence plate and learned the vehicle had been stolen in Lloydminster.

Police had to call off a chase for public safety reasons, no injuries were reported as a result of the incident. The van was later found in a field with the driver still inside.

The 28-year-old man is in custody and scheduled to appear Oct. 10 in Saskatoon provincial court The driver will face several 8 charges including assaulting a police officer, possession of property obtained by crime and possession of a prohibited weapon.
