Lloydminster Interval Home hosting “Breakfast with the Guys”

The Lloydminster Interval Home Society is looking for feedback from men in the community to help with their programming. The organization is hosting “Breakfast with the Guys” on November 6 to create leaders that will help prevent violence in the community.

Chief Operations Officer Charlene Rowein says the event will have two parts, the first features a keynote speaker and the second half will see men participate in a conversation.

“We’re inviting men from our community to come and take part in listening to our keynote speaker who is going to talk about different aspects of gender-based violence and talking about ways individuals can become leaders of change in our community.”

Rowein says the Interval Home does have programming for men called New Perspectives for Men that they have run for years.

“That program is specific to men who have had behaviours or do have behaviours that are abusive behaviours. That program is there to support the men to identify those behaviours and things they can then do to change.”

Rowein hopes the breakfast will help give them information they can then use to help with programming at the same time engaging boys and men.

“Developing presentations that we can then use out in the community and having that as a baseline that we can use to see how can we use that information to create some of those outcomes.”

The breakfast has limited seating and people interested in attending can contact the Interval Home.
