Health Foundation Gala raises $135,000 for Project Sunrise

The 2018 Health Foundation Gala has raised $135,000 for a Lloydminster mental health initiative. The 18th annual Gala took place on October 19 with all proceeds going towards Project Sunrise. Over the past 18 years, the event has raised just over $3million towards health care in the region.

Project Sunrise is the Foundations main fundraising program for mental health and addiction in Lloydminster. In a press release, Events Coordinator Jordan Moir says organizing the event was very special because the money was going to something important to her and the community.

“Being in the Stockade the night of Gala and watching our community come together for such an important cause and sharing their stories is truly amazing to watch.”

Project Sunrise has four different phases for development which includes dealing with immediate coverage and additional support for those in crisis. These phases are funded through a one million dollar endowment for mental health, which now sits at just over $ 700,000, and proceeds from the gala on October 19th.

“You really don’t realize just how many people are impacted by mental health until there are 600 people in one room sharing so openly about their experiences.”
