Freezing rain is coming to the Border City. A freezing rain warning has been issued for the Lloydminster – Wainwright – Vermilion – Provost region.
Environment Canada says a band of freezing rain should be brought to the central parts of Alberta starting early Sunday morning. It will be heaviest for places north of Edmonton.
“Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery,” Environment Canada warns. “Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. Ice build-up may cause tree branches to break. Utility outages may occur.
The freezing rain is expected to finish in most communities by Sunday evening as it changes to snow. The forecast for the City of Lloydminster is calling for periods of freezing rain to start before Sunday morning, mixing with rain in the morning.
