Don’t get too bundled up just yet as Lloydminster might see warmer winter months. The Weather Network’s 2019 winter forecast calls for above normal temperatures and around normal precipitation.
Meteorologist Michael Carter says the warmer temperatures will spread across B.C, Alberta and a bit into Saskatchewan due in part to the Pacific Ocean.
“Typically around December, we will start to see daytime highs topping out somewhere around the -7 or -8 degree range. In January a little bit colder the daytime temperatures only around -9 or -10 and then by Feburary we will climb back up again, again seeing day time highs averaging at -7.”
Carter adds that the average temperature will vary depending on location. The milder winter foreseen is due to Meteorologists expecting an El Niño to develop. Rain and snow are to be around normal due to the precipitation expected.
“I think the overall story really is quite positive for the upcoming winter certainly in relationship to some past winters that we’ve had that have been quite severe.”
