The City of Lloydminster and the Regional Health Foundation are being recognized for their work towards social needs in the city. The two entities joined forces in 2017 for their “Lloyd Needs” campaign to assess social needs in the city through resident interactions.
In a release Wednesday, The City says the Family and Community Support Services of Alberta (FCSSAA) Award of Excellence was presented to them on November 29 at the FCSSAA Annual conference in Edmonton.
Manager of Social Programs and Services Patrick Lancaster says the impact of the report has just begun in Lloydminster and the city can’t wait to see what the future has in store.
“We were successful in leveraging a large array of community connections and collecting input from portions of our population that sometimes go underrepresented.”
Lancaster adds that the collaboration between local social organizations helped drive participation in the assessment.
Lloydminster Regional Health Foundation CEO Malcolm Radke says the recent decision by local healthcare professionals for added support to mental health in Lloydminster is due in part by the findings from the campaign.
“The Lloyd Needs campaign gave us tangible local figures and a real-world framework to improve the health of our community. Ultimately, this campaign will represent a turning point in the mental wellbeing of our city.”
The FCSSAA Award of Excellence continues to recognize innovation and creativity in meeting community needs.
