Bobcats continue to rebuild with new scouting staff

The Lloydminster Bobcats continue building their foundation with the recent hire of 5 new player scouts. The rebuilding started last month around the time new Head Coach and GM Nigel Dube stepped in the building.

On Wednesday, the Bobcats announced Alberta scouting will be up to new hires Kelly Smith and Calen Jobson. In the East, Saskatchewan scouting will be done by Nevin Dube, Graham Klassen and Stephen Kirzinger.  Jeff Jeanson will be the Bobcat’s scout in Manitoba, and Tyler Shipstad was added to the watch south of the border.

Dube says moving forward it is important to identify the staff and players that want to be a part of the organization.

“These scouts all have a great eye for not only talented hockey players, but they understand we are built around character, integrity, and passion; we want athletes who want to have a positive impact in our community. Bringing these types of players to Lloydminster will not only significantly and positively impact our community but will bring the product this city is looking for and expecting on the ice.”

Since the beginning of November, the Bobcats have seen a total revamp in hockey operations staffing. The cats were sitting in last place in the AJHL North Division when Nigel Dube arrived at the beginning of November. Although the standings haven’t changed, the Bobcats organization are making changes for a brighter future.
