Anyone in Lloydminster who wants their presents underneath a real Christmas tree might be out of luck. Both Wal-Mart and Canadian Tire say trees have been selling quickly. The stores have a few trees in stock but that might not last long.
Lloydminster Kinsmen Club Started with 830 Christmas trees three weeks ago and sold out on Sunday. Chair of the Christmas Tree Fundraiser Matt Read says nostalgia is the biggest factor in people wanting a real tree.
“The scent of a real tree in your house is definitely different than a fake one that comes up from your basement once a year.”
Read says all proceeds from the fundraiser will be reinvested into the community through the club.
“A lot of people come out and buy them and support the club. A real tree decomposes or you can have a nice little bonfire once the season is over.”
