Lloydminster residents and companies created their best Christmas float to showcase in the fourth annual Parde of Lights. Over $26,000 was raised for the Regional Health Foundation to help fund new equipment for the Lloydminster hospital. Founder Ryan Leblanc believes this was the best parade yet.
“It was awesome to see everyone’s efforts and the amount of time they put into making their displays as good as they were that night. It was amazing.”
After the parade, the festivities continue at the Exhibition grounds where two Boundary Ford trucks were set up to collect toy donations for Lloydminster Sexual Assault services, and diapers for Midwest Family Connections. Leblanc says there might be a change in the donations next year as a lot of toys were donated, not so much with the diapers. Leblanc says issues with road closures were one of the only hiccups with this year’s event.
“We’re not going to close the highway as long, we will probably just do it 15 minutes or so prior to the parade starting so people don’t get blocked from getting home. Otherwise, everything went really good.”
The event raised the more than 2017 and surpassed their goal of $25,000 raised.
