Lloydminster welcomes first baby of 2019

Tenneille Gadwa and Blaine Dillon welcomed baby Bowie Araya Dillon into the world on January 1, 2019, at 12:24 PM at the Lloydminster Hospital. The baby girl, weighing in at weighing 8 lb. 6 oz,  was named after legendary musician David Bowie and Tom Araya from Slayer. The parents heard that they would be having the first Lloydminster baby of 2019 when Tenneille was in labour.

“The nurses, they told us we were “front runner-up” for the new years baby,” says Blaine. Tenneille adds “I think well we were still in surgery. I think the doctors might have been talking about it.”

Tenneille believes it was a “race”, she says there were around three other women that were also close to ringing in the New Year with the first newborn in Lloydminster.

“A lot of people in our family have special birthdays as well. My sister, she is New Year’s Eve, Blaine, he is St. Patrick Day along with my other sister, my other sister is a Christmas baby and now [Bowie] is a New Years baby.”

Tenneille adds that music surrounds their family as Blaine proposed to her at an Avenged Sevenfold concert, and Bowie’s first concert was Slayer when Tenneille was three months pregnant.

Bowie was expected two days before she was born. The family is heading home today at noon where Bowie has a little sister waiting to welcome her at home in Onion Lake.
