Lloydminster RCMP will begin strategizing for 2019

Constable Grant Kirzinger says Lloydminster RCMP will begin to sit down and figure out where their focus will be for 2019.

“We will look at the past year, the types files that we’ve investigated, whether there has been an increase or decrease in certain file types, and the demands in the city itself to come up with those priorities.”

The goal of the strategic planning is to make sure that the RCMP is using their resources effectively, adds Kirzinger. Lloydminster RCMP held initiatives throughout the past year aimed towards impaired driving and property crime in order for positive steps to be made in reducing crime.

“2018 was a year that the Lloydminster RCMP saw a lot of different opportunities to engage and invest in our community and work together to help make Lloydminster a safe and fun place for people to live and work.”

Earlier this month, the RCMP and Holy Rosary High School competed in a charity basketball game raising donations for the local food bank. The RCMP have other events planned for 2019 in order for the first responders to interact with the community in a positive light.

Within the first half of 2019, Lloydminster residents will be able to witness the fourth annual Todd Gustavson Battle of the Badges. The Fire Department and the RCMP will be going head-to-head in the annual hockey game in memory of Gustavson, who served with the fire department for 37 years. The first responders will be playing for their choice of charity.

The Lloydminster RCMP want to thank the public for their assistance throughout the last year.
