10 Locals make Team Alberta Football first cut

10 Lloydminster boys are aiming to join Team Alberta Football. This past weekend they took part in Football Alberta’s camp in Edmonton with the hope of joining the provincial under-17 or under-18 team. The boys were among the 130 high school football players who made the first cut.

From Lloydminster, Quarterback Anton Amundrud, Running Back Matthew Morin, Donovan Wooldridge, Offensive Lineman Lucas Seffern, Clay Vetter, defensive lineman Ryker Pilgrim, Linebacker Josh Chapelski and defensive backs Rylan Feist, Dillon Orieux, and Kaleb Sommerfeld was selected from 400 athletes to advance to the final selection camp.

Final cuts will be made after the April 5th to 7th camp in Calgary. Players who make the under-18 Alberta team will compete at the Football Canada Cup in Kingston, Ontario in July. In August, the under-17 Alberta team will travel Maui to face Hawaiian high schools during a development camp. The under-17s will also play an exhibition scrimmage versus Team Saskatchewan in June.
