A 40-year-old man from Lloydminster passed away in a two-vehicle collision with semi-tractor near Bonnyville yesterday. The collision diverted traffic on Highway 55 until 7 p.m. last night. Bonnyville RCMP, with help from Lac La Biche RCMP responded to the collision between a car and semi-tractor at about 3:30 p.m.
The car travelling east on Highway 55 collided head-on with the semi-tractor travelling west, about 5 kilometres west of Highway 881. The 40-year-old male driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. The male driver of the semi-tractor was not injured. Bonnyville RCMP and an RCMP Collision Analyst remained on scene for several hours and the investigation continues.
No charges will be laid and further updates are not anticipated. The name of the deceased will not be released. Bonnyville RCMP members say their thoughts are with the family of the deceased at this time.
