Lloydminster RCMP to host regimental ball

The Lloydminster RCMP are preparing for a regimental ball on March 23. The event will be hosted in conjunction with Midwest Victims Services at the Stockade Convention Centre. Staff sergeant Sarah Knelsen says the event will be an exciting time for those who join the Lloydminster RCMP and members from surrounding detachments.

“There’s going to be a silent auction, a live auction, the band The Chevelles is coming in from Lethbridge. There will be a great supper and a midnight lunch and we hope to see everyone there,” says Staff Sgt. Knelsen. The event is fundraising for Midwest Victims Services, a non-profit agency that helps victims of crime and trauma.

“That’s run out of the Lloydminster Detachment, however, they help surrounding areas such as Onion Lake and Maidstone. We’re really looking forward to raising some funds and having a good evening.”

Tickets to the event can be purchased at the Lloydminster RCMP Detachment through Victim Services. They cost $85 for one or $600 for a table of eight. Tickets purchased before February 28 will also enter you into a draw for drinks at a local establishment beforehand and a limo ride to the ball. Staff Sgt. Knelsen says tickets are best bought early, as there’s only 400 available.

“Last time we hosted it two years ago, we sold well over 400 tickets, and this year we’re capping it at 400. So get your tickets early, and get your name in for that early bird draw!”
