UPDATE: Alberta RCMP advise against travel on Highways 16, 216, 14 and others

Update: Alberta Mounties are advising against travelling on Highway 16, Highway 216, Highway 14 and surrounding highways. Police and emergency crews are dealing with multiple collisions on Highways 216 and Highway 14. Weather conditions are making visibility very poor in these areas.

Drivers are asked to stay off these highways or reduce their speed for the safety of first responders dealing with the clean up of these collisions. Before travel in these poor conditions please consult Alberta 511 at 511.alberta.ca to get the most up-to-date road conditions.

Alberta RCMP members are advising against travelling west on Highway 16. The Strathcona RCMP advises against travelling on Highway 16 and surrounding highways at this time, due to a high number of vehicles who have left the road.

Drivers can expect delays because of slippery road conditions and poor visibility on Highway 16 and surrounding highways. If you must travel, the RCMP asks that you please reduce your speed, and check the weather and road conditions before heading out.
