Lloydminster RCMP charge two with assault following hockey fight

Lloydminster RCMP members have charged two men with assault following a hockey fight last month. At about 10 p.m. on February 18, Mounties were told of a fight at the Centennial Civic Centre.

The RCMP were told two referees, ages 36 and 24, were assaulted by family members of a player after a Junior B hockey game. Scott Payne, 51, and Jayden Payne, 23, have been charged with assault related to this incident. Both were released on their own recognizance for a provincial court date on Monday, April 8. Constable Michael Hagel of the Lloydminster RCMP calls this kind of behaviour unacceptable.

“This type of behaviour has no place in our hockey community. As adults you are responsible to set a good example for the youth playing the game,” says Const. Hagel.

Lloydminster RCMP is asking for any information related to this incident. Please contact the Lloydminster RCMP at (780) 808-8400 or your local police if you have any information.
