Saskatchewan closing Lloydminster environment field office

The Ministry of Environment is closing down walk-in services to 19 field offices this spring, which includes Lloydminster. The closure dates will be different for each location from April 1 to October 1; most offices will discontinue counter service on May 14.

The Government of Saskatchewan says 16 part-time staff and three full-time staff will be impacted by the change. 10 of the impacted offices are currently open two days a week.  Conservation offices will continue to serve the communities from the offices impacted.

Residents looking to buy hunting, trapping or angler licenses can do so through electronic self-serve options such as the online HAL system, private licence vendors or one of the ministry’s 13 offices with front counter services.

The Government of Saskatchewan says in 2018, there were more than 409,000 hunting and angling licenses sold in the province.  The 19 impacted offices accounted for approximately two per cent of all provincial licence sales.

Those looking for more information on how to access ministry services can visit Sasketchewan.ca or contact the ministry’s Client Inquiry Centre. Locations affected by the closure are Assiniboia, Big River, Buffalo Narrows, Estevan, Humboldt, Île-à-la-Crosse, Kindersley, Leader, Lloydminster, Maple Creek, Moose Jaw, Outlook, Pinehouse, Preeceville, Shaunavon, Southend, Spiritwood, Wadena and Weyburn.
